Cookie is a 15 month old male Akita cross German Shepherd Dog, and he’s looking for his forever home! Cookie was found straying, and his owners didn’t want him back. He is great with other dogs (bit vocal on first meeting), loves to run and chase them or play tug, and snuggle up for a nap. He’s currently fostered with male and female, large and small dogs and is fine with everyone, but he can’t go with cats or other small furries. He has basic training; sit, paw, down etc. and is house trained.
He’s well mannered with his food, takes treats very gently, and eats with the other dogs. He doesn’t guard treats or toys, and will let you (and other dogs) take them off him. He loves his walks, and walks well on a head collar, although he is still a big strong dog, and will need plenty of exercise, preferably off lead in a secure area. He is a big baby, and does still mouth and jump up, so that still needs working on. I wouldn’t recommend him to go with young kids, just because of his size, he could easily knock them flying!
He definitely shows more of the shepherd traits than Akita, he needs to go to a home with another dog for company, or where someone is around the majority of the time, as he doesn’t like being left on his own and will get bored. He can easily hop over stairgates, and had escaped from his previous home a number of times, so will need a secure garden with high fences/walls.
Shadow is a male German Shepherd cross approximately 18 months old. He is a lovely boy who will make a very loyal and lively companion. He is currently staying in a foster home and is getting acquainted with their cat. It is not known how he is with other dogs. He is very intelligent and obedient, responding well to basic commands. Adoption is subject to a homecheck and adoption fee.
