Matilda has come to us from another rescue, she is we think under a year old, we have no idea what her breed is at all. This is not the sort of dog the other rescue normally has so they would have had trouble homing her, LBDR were happy to help as she is a Large Breed.

Here is some of what we have been told by the other rescue. “I got a message about a “lurcher” that was due to be put to sleep. I asked if they were sure she was a lurcher and they assured me she was. Got a bit of a shock when I finally saw her! However, committed is committed, I cat tested her myself and horse tested her and she wasn’t interest, almost scared. I homed her with another of our dogs to a cat home and she did not like their cat one bit. So back she came. Matilda is big and bouncy. She is very puppy like. She does sit and paw. She plays hard with my bigger lurchers but is too boisterous for most of them. She is not aggressive in her play, just full on.
Matilda is crated at night and when we go out. She is perfectly clean in her crate and in the house. She sleeps quietly through the night. She patrols my garden and she does bark at things she hears. There are dogs outside in the property next to ours and when they bark she barks back. She loves people, but her short lived home said she did bark at strangers when out on a walk with them. She is very lean in her hindquarters and I don’t think it is that she is underweight, just the way she is built. She is just way too big to mix freely with our lot. She takes up most of the dog sofa!”
We are just getting to know her here and so far have found her to be very people friendly, quite cautious when investigating her new surroundings and she chews her food delicately which we are not used to! She is looking for an experienced, active home, with good fences, no cats, and no small children just because of her size.
