A South Carolina woman who has already lost her retired police officer husband to cancer, and then her home to the bank, now faces the loss of her six German Shepherds to a kill shelter, according to a posting made on Facebook by Le Berger allemand
Three of the German Shepherds are males, and the other three are female. A friend stepped up and took the dogs in temporarily but because of complaints from neighbors about the dogs barking, the friend can no longer keep them. Sadly, they will be surrendered to the Aiken County Animal Shelter Saturday unless a rescue, foster, or adoptive home can be found.
These dogs, between three and six years old, are housebroken, but have not been spayed or neutered. A seventh dog is in foster care, but has tested light positive for heartworms, and the shelter has told the owner that any of the six who test positive upon surrender will be euthanized.
