These two handsome GSDs are behaving very well. Nice job! I wonder what they are waiting for.

Teaching the Wait Command

Teaching your pet the “wait” command is important to improve his manners. For instance, you’ll find the “wait” command quite useful when you are about to give him food and he tries to jump all over you . It is also useful for owners who have dogs who always rush through the door ahead of him. If you can teach him the“wait” command, you won’t have to worry about tripping!
However, you would definitely need tons of patience when teaching this command because dogs in general get easily distracted. Once he follows your command do not forget to give him lavish praises and even some tasty treats. You can practice the “wait command”several times a day. Just remember to keep the training short and fun.
Your German Shepherd might not understand what “wait” means initially, but just like other dog commands, repetition and positive reinforcement are the key to success.
