Did you know…

Taking your German Shepherd to the beach calls for some preparation and basic know-how. Remember that anything that could hurt you at the beach could likewise damage your pet, such as sunburn, jellyfish, broken glass, sharp coverings and other aggressive canines. When you know how to prevent any possible mishaps, you;ll surely have an excellent beach day with your GSD.
Warmer temperatures at the coastline can pose risk to your dog’s wellness. So ensure to bring lots of fresh and his pet bowl. Also, keep in mind that the sand can hurt you dog’s sensitive paws, so offer a covering or towel for your German Shepherd’s convenience when he pauses from playing in the sand.
Even dogs with thick coats can get sunburned nose. You can get sun screen lotion made particularly for dogs. However, never use sun screen lotion that contains zinc since it could be hazardous if ingested. Then apply sunscreen to your dog’s ears, nose, and anywhere else that is directly exposed to the sun.
Moreover, only allow your dog off leash if you are certain that he knows how to follow the recall command. You may also give your pooch a doggy life vest to wear if you are not that confident yet in his swimming abilities. Importantly, consistently supervise him while he’s in or near the water.
Lastly, bring an emergency treatment kit in case of minor accidents like cut paws or jellyfish stings. Include cotton rounds, peroxide, ammonia (for stings, dilute with water before applying), and plasters.
